The new season is here and the craze is all about natural makeup. What a perfect way to embrace the trend by ditching the full coverage foundation, heavy eyeliner and false lashes. Embrace the skin you are in! Whether you’re spending a day at Crystal Cove Beach, laying out at the Coliseum Pool, or grabbing a snack at the Coliseum Grill, your makeup will stay put by going the natural beauty route. Here are my 10 steps for achieving perfect natural makeup.
1. Prep the Skin
This weightless oil-free primer was named Best Primer of 2016. Apply one pump to clean, moisturized skin to extend the wear of your makeup. This primer has key benefits – conceals redness minimizes fine lines and pores, and contains SPF 15 for protection against the sun.
2. Add a Light Foundation, Tinted Moisturizer or BB cream
For natural looking skin, apply a lightweight base such as Burberry’s Fresh Glow B.B. Cream. This cream can enhance the radiance and tone while moisturizing and protecting the skin with SPF 20. Apply with a damp Beauty Blender for a flawless application.
3. Correct and Conceal
To cover any darkness under the eyes, try using The Sensual Skin Enhancer by Kevyn Aucoin. This is a versatile skin-perfecting enhancer that can be used as a concealer, highlighter or foundation. I would recommend using this product as a concealer and apply a small amount with a brush, then blend with a Beauty Blender Micro Mini makeup sponge.
4. Apply Natural Eyeshadow
For a natural eye look, choose neutral tones like peaches and soft browns. The Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye Con No 7 Plush Eyeshadow Palette – The Lolita has you covered. Start by sweeping the lightest shade all over the eye up to the brow bone. Then take the peach shade and place that right on the lid. To complete the look, take the light brown eyeshadow and carve that right into the crease for added definition. Blend with a fluffy brush to ensure the look is natural with no harsh edges.
5. Curl Lashes
To give your lashes the perfect curl, I highly recommend trying the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. This iconic award-winning curler features an enhanced design that delivers the perfect curl. It’s a staple in my pro makeup kit!
6. Apply Mascara
One coat of the Dior’s Diorshow Black Out Mascara will bring out the natural beauty of your lashes. Start at the base and in a zig zag motion sweep up to the end of the lash. This will separate your lashes and make sure they are coated evenly. I’d opt for the waterproof version if you are going to the beach or the pool.
7. Add a Natural Blush to the Cheeks
Charlotte Tilbury’s Cheek To Chic Blush in the shades Love Is The Drug or Love Glow creates that youthful flush to the cheeks. The formula is buildable for that perfect healthy glow. Apply to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upward for a blended natural look.
8. Give Light to the Face
Get that lit within glow by adding NARS Copacabana to the tops of the cheekbones and on the high points of the face. This product goes on sheer and is quick and easy to apply. It’s enriched with Vitamin E and acai oil for antioxidant benefits. You’ll end up with a healthy glow that’s natural looking.
9. Naturally Enhance the Brows
You can create a very natural looking brow with the Anastasia Brow Wiz. This is a retractable pencil that creates hair-like strokes. I like to start by lightly filling in the inside of the brow and working toward the outside. Then, use the spooley to blend for a flawless look. The formula is smudge proof, perfect to withstand the heat!
10. Add a Flush of Color to the Lips
To complete this perfect natural makeup look, apply a lipstick shade like YSL’s Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-In-Stick in the shade Rose Saharienne for a natural hue. If you want a pop of color, try Trapeze Pink. This lipstick is made of 60% oil which provides your lips with instant hydration while antioxidants in pomegranate and rosemary extracts reduce fine lines.
To conclude, these are my 10 steps for achieving perfect natural makeup. This look is simple to create and will enhance your natural beauty. If you know it’s going to be a hot day, seal your makeup with Clarins Fix’ Make-Up spray. It’s a light refreshing mist that sets makeup, instantly moisturizes and soothes the skin.
