THE MANTRA “LOCATION, location, location” isn’t just for Realtors.

From couples to kids, an ideal family vacation is one in which the locale provides amenities enough for everyone. At The Resort at Pelican Hill,® children 4 through 12 get their very own location and an all-day, all-inclusive program.

“Camp Pelican was created not only to provide a unique Resort experience for younger guests but also an alternative to in-room babysitters,” says Danielle de Beaubien, concierge supervisor at Pelican Hill.® The year-round, daily program offers kids the chance to participate in unforgettable adventures on the Resort grounds, freeing up parents for a couple’s massage at the Spa, poolside R&R, brunch on the terrace, or 18 holes on one of the Resort’s championship courses.

“As we say here,” says de Beaubien, “ ‘parents love Camp because kids love Camp.’ They have a ball playing, learning and making new friends, all under the care of highly qualified and fun-loving counselors.”

Located in a kid-friendly clubhouse overlooking the Pacific, campers are welcomed into a whimsical world of themed activities led by specialists who know how to spark the imagination. Favorites include a treasure hunt on Tiki Tuesdays, mask-making on Dino Wednesdays and water games on Under the Sea Thursdays.

Summer weekends are positively supercharged. Campers create capes and masks on Superhero Fridays, taste-test solar oven s’mores on Mad Science Saturdays and go wild with the Lizard Wizard every Sunday. New this summer is Bubblology, an interactive show featuring a master “bubblologist” who demonstrates fun science by creating bubbles of all shapes and sizes. Kids get to experiment with a variety of wands, make their own bubbles and even climb inside a giant one.

The fun continues after hours each Saturday and on select Fridays with the ever-popular movie nights from 5 to 9 p.m. “Parents get an evening out while the little ones dig into dinner, a movie and popcorn,” de Beaubien says. “It’s a vacation win-win.” Outdoors, the kids’ pool, bubble jet fountains, sand play areas and covered patio with air hockey and foosball tables offer up a host of options. Outdoors, the kids’ pool, bubble jet fountains, sand play areas and covered patio with air hockey and foosball tables offer up a host of options. Parents can rest assured that their children are in good hands as counselors are certified in first aid, CPR and water safety.

Inside, kids are immersed in a colorful and carefree space where they settle into comfortable, pint-size seating, pull out board games or enjoy quiet time in front of big-screen TVs and video game stations.

All that fun makes for hungry youngsters, and the Resort’s in-room dining chefs have it covered. Daily meals include fresh fruits, veggies and kid-size — and kid-endorsed — desserts. Accommodations are easily made for special, vegan and gluten-free diets.

“By the end of the day we know about their favorite movies, their best friends at school, and whether they like the crust of their sandwiches on or off,” de Beaubien says. “I think that our bond and genuine love for these kids shows, and parents appreciate that we go the extra mile to make their children feel at home at Camp.”

Camp Pelican runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, half-day or full day. Bubblology is offered Saturdays during the summer and may be booked separately. Reservations required. For more information, please call 877.624.6035
