Skin Care

The Immortelle Brightening Instant Exfoliate by L’Occitan is a great start to making skin texture appear more even, it helps the complexion to become brighter and provides a youthful glow. It’s pure immortelle essential oil protects against impurities and is used for anti-aging effectiveness.

When we exfoliate, we need to bring moisture back into the skin. Cle de Peau’s Hydro Softening Lotion is perfect for this, as it helps protect the skin from dryness and rebalances the skin. Use every morning and evening after using your favorite cleanser. Moisturizing is key to keep your skin looking youthful. I discovered the Magic Cream from Charlotte Tilbury, which has ingredients to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and boost elasticity to the skin. Vitamin E, a great anti-oxidant, is also in the mix, which naturally helps heal skin for a beautiful complexion. To get glowing skin, apply this cream during the day. For a smooth luminous finish, The Moisturizing Soft Cream from La Mer will also do the trick. This cream replenishes moisture by absorbing quickly and strengthening the skin. To keep the skin around the eye area looking hydrated during the day, I recommend a lightweight eye cream such as the La Prairie Anti-Aging Eye Cream with SPF 15. This can help control dehydration and decrease the appearance of lines. If you like more of a gel formula, try using The Illuminating Eye Gel by La Mer. The eye area can look more youthful and brightened. For evening, I like to choose skincare that is a bit more rich in texture. The Creme De La Mer has an ultra rich dewy finish that can improve firmness and help pores look less visible.

Primers are made to prep the skin for makeup by smoothing texture and can help products last longer. Depending on what you are looking for in a primer, you can try the YSL Touche Eclate Blur Primer which provides a smooth texture and brings luminosity to the skin; the Marc Jacobs Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer forms a natural vitamin rich barrier between your skin and makeup, allowing your skin to breathe, making skin appear younger looking, or the Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base by Burberry to hydrate and illuminate the skin.

I personally love dewy finish BB creams and foundations. For a lightweight coverage (if you are going to Crystal Cove or the infinity pool at the Resort at Pelican Hill), try using the Fresh Glow B.B. Cream by Burberry. It enhances skin with a healthy dewy glow.

For days where you are looking for a little more coverage, their Fresh Glow Foundation is buildable to a medium coverage with a dewy finish. If you want a fuller coverage foundation that is more on the matte side, I’d recommend both the Burberry Cashmere, which has soft matte finish and the Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Foundation, which provides a true matte finish with flawless coverage. For an enhanced glow, I like to add a drop of The Glow Enhancer by Elcie Cosmetics into the foundation that I’m using. This oil helps nourish and protect the skin, offering antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-aging properties.

To keep skin looking youthful, I apply warm toned and glowy makeup products to make the skin look lit from within. I tend to be drawn toward gold and bronze eyeshadow shades. Try applying the gold tone eyeshadow from the Charlotte Tilbury Vintage Vamp Eye Kit and the bronze shades from the Dolce Vita Eye Kit to create a beautiful daytime eye look.

For cheekbones that are enhanced but not overdone, The Sculpting Powder from Kevyn Aucoin will help you perfect the look. I always add a hint of pink to the apples of the cheeks for a younger look. Dior Vibrant Color Powder Blush in the shade Lucky Pink or Tom Ford Cheek Color in Frantic Pink are great products to achieve this. Apply with a fluffy blush brush to make sure it’s well blended. Bronzers are the best way to bring warmth and youth to the skin. If you like cream bronzers, I’d recommend the Soleil Tan De Chanel. This cream has a velvet finish that provides a sun-kissed look. For a powder texture, try Michael Kors Bronze Powder or Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar Bronze & Glow. To bring light to the skin, I always apply a highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones. My go-to’s are the Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo, Chanel Perles Et Fantasies Illuminating Powder, and the Luminizing Face Enhancer in Golden Apricot from Cle de Peau.

To keep lips looking great, apply a YSL Rouge Volute Shine Oil in Stick Lipstick. These lipsticks contain 65% oil for instant hydration and smoothness. Your lips will look healthy and more nourished.

Summer is upon us and I always like to add a bit of shimmer to the body. Charlotte Tilbury’s Supermodel Body and Tom Ford’s Soleil Blanc will keep your skin looking radiant, glowy and youthful. After you’ve spent the day at Crystal Cove or the infinity pool at The Resort at Pelican Hill, be sure to provide your skin with care. Try using the Michael Kors After Sun Gelee. This is a untinted moisturizer that is specially formatted to soothe, nourish, and renew your sun-kissed skin.
